What the fuck, America?

Today I heard about this restaurant called Outback steak house. They serve "Australian" food.

This is bullshit. I looked on their website and browsed their menu. It is wrong. Sure, it's hard to fuck up a steak. But the rest, especially their specialty menu, is not Aussie at all.

Here is a list of things I found the least Australian.
"Grilled Shrimp on the Barbie": This is so stereotypically Australia. If they wanted it to be authentic, at least make it Prawns.
"Bloomin' Onions": If you want classically Aussie onions, caramelise them on a barbecue and serve them with sausages. Deep frying them is so American.
"Alice Springs Chicken Quesadillas": Why advertise them as "Alice Springs"? I can't see anything in the ingredients that would make these specifically "alice springs".
"Aussie Cheese Fries": Only one real issue with these. They're served with Ranch Dressing. Not Aussie.
"Baby Back Ribs": Just... No.
"Grilled Chicken on the Barbie": Okay. Wood-fired does not equal barbecued. Neither does bbq sauce. This happens a lot in their menu, but this is the first one, so I'm only gonna list this, instead of every single one.
"New Zealand Lamb": Get out.
"Filet & Lobster Tail": We don't actually cook a whole lot of "specialty" steaks here. We mostly eat filet in restaurants. The lobster isn't bad, but it isn't every day food, and it's in like the next 6 menu items.
"Hearts of Gold Mahi": What the fuck kind of fish is Mahi?
"Chocolate Thunder from Downunder": This is a brownie. It's not that we don't have them here, but we (at least, I) think of them as an American baked item.
"Classic Cheesecake": Why is this a New-York style cheesecake?! We HAVE cheesecake here.
"Asian Sesame Salad": Getting your continents mixed up.
"Cake pops": WHAT.
"Classic Cheeseburger": The worst part about this is that one of the cheese options is American. We don't call it American cheese here. It's just processed cheese.
"Turf and Surf": The tagline is "here, we say surf and turf backwards". I don't know about the rest of Australia, but where I come from, we call it surf and turf. It sounds better.

Now, I'll make some menu suggestions. Feel free to make your own in the comments!
Lamingtons: A classic Aussie dessert. How is this NOT on the menu.
Chicken Parma: Not technically Australian, but just try to go into a pub and not see chicken parma on the menu.
Fair-Dinkum Fridays: They have "No Worries Wednesday". Fair-Dinkum is much Aussier.
T-Bone, Rump & Eye fillet Steaks: These are my go to steaks, the ones I think of when I think steak.

Anyway, I thought I'd share the outrage with my fellow aussies, and educate my american friends. Bye Now!

Help Stop the New South Wales Bushfires

This year, Australia is getting a head start on it's bushfires.

In New South Wales, bushfires are raging across the state. There have been stories about Sydney (NSW's capital city) being surrounded by smoke. 1000's of people have lost their homes, and many have died.

In this time of need, the Australian Red Cross gathers it's team of volunteers to help people in bushfire affected areas. They are currently asking for donations to help people find safe places to stay, feed and clothe people who have lost everything, and eventually help to rebuild.

So, I'm asking you, my trusty followers, to donate. There are two possible ways to donate. One, you can go to the Red Cross Website and donate directly, or, as I don't know their policy on international donations, click the donate button on my blog. That will send the donation on to my personal paypal, and I will send it on (I suggest you try the former option first, but as many of my readers are international, I thought I would include a backup option).

My thoughts go out to all of the people affected by the fires, and all the volunteers (red cross, CFA, and others) who are risking their lives to help people in need.

100 posts!

This was my 100th blog post. It was a bit anticlimactic. So I'm redoing it, here, today!

HAPPY 100 POSTS, MY RIDICULOUS LIFE!
Yes, I'm in my pyjamas. Deal with it!

Yippee, 100 posts. Technically, 104.

Holy shit, new store stuff!

There's a new Halloween Jerry theme in the store! You should all go check it out. I'll be removing the Halloween Jerry on the 1st of November, at which time I'll put up the Christmas designs I have in the works.

The phone cases are a bit over priced, but the note cards are adorable! I want some for my halloween invitations (but then, I did make them). You should go check it out!

They're actually not up on the site yet, but as soon as they are (likely tomorrow) I'll post a link here and on the store page. I am excite!

SayCoconuts triumphant return to blogging!

Look at me! I'm back, and better than ever!

I've gotten a new wireless modem, which means I can internet from my bed again, so I'm back, permanently.

Lots of stuff to talk about, so I might as well get started.

Today I came home from work to find flowers. The card said "the imperfections are what make the vase unique and beautiful". No idea who they could be from... Although the fact that it's a line from one of Shakespeare's poems (unpublished) gives me a vague idea. So now I'm a bit depressed. *Sigh*

Honestly, that actually all I feel about saying now. I'll be funny tomorrow.

Dating is a butt.

Dating is stupid. I had forgotten that. Unfortunately, I have now been brutally reminded. Shakespeare, however, is not having nearly as much trouble winning the dating game as I am. But I'm here to talk about me, not him.

Dating is evil. I've been on about 20 dates since I've been single. It's not that they're terrible, it's just that I have two guys in my life who I compare all other guys to. Jae and Shakespeare. These various dates have yet to live up to either of those guys.

Speaking of Jae, he's been my rock (excuse the cliché). My brother moved in with him :) and he has a new girlfriend now. Before the current girlfriend, there was Anna, who hated me. So, Jae threw her out of a plane. Not really, but it would've been awesome if he had.

Anyway, bloop.

Any one interested?

I'm interested in starting online English tutoring. Rates undecided, but fairly cheap. A+ student through to year 12, tutoring for years 7-10. Email me if you're interested :)

Hiya everyone

So, I have an iPhone now. Which means I can blog to you on my phone now. Yippee. I've also ordered a new wireless modem, so I'll have Internet again. So it's a great day for this blog.

I've just been out to dinner and I'm in a wonderful mood, so I'm gonna go get drunk or something. See you soon!

Hi

This is a blog post to let people know that I'm still alive.

Also, dating is bullshit.

Me

In reality, I am terribly socially awkward. I am not good at conversation, which is why I tend to surround myself with extroverts. They do most of the talking.

But there are 2 things in my life that, if you start me talking about them, I am very difficult to stop.

The first of those things is my pets, mostly because the crazy stories I have could fill a boat. A large boat.

The second is Doctor Who. I lose all inhibitions when talking about doctor who. I don't know why this is. I'm not passionate, strictly, but very knowledgeable.

So, you know, if you ever meet me in reality, bring up either of those topics, but don't expect to get a word in.

I found this list

It's a list of things to blog about when you don't know what to write. I will be running through the things on this list for a while. I scheduling the posts so that once they're written, I don't have to think about them anymore and they'll just publish when I tell them to.

They'll start tomorrow and I'm not stopping until I've run out of list.

Store Stuff!

Guys, you should click the store button up there. There's lots of cool stuff that you can buy! Then, if you buy it, I'll get money, and continue being able to survive. It's a win win situation.

Also, I've updated the Awesome button. Click that also.

Updating Things!

I haven't really updated you on my life in my last two posts. That's what this post is for. Okay.

I moved into my parents basement. You knew that.
I started working from home. I still work for the same company, but I got a promotion that only occasionally requires me to be in the office.
I got a ferret.
My brother moved out of my parents house.
I also made arrangements so I can study from home aswell, meaning I never have to leave the house!
I know why a raven is like a writing desk.

Why I shouldn't let my brother buy my alcohol (AKA SayCo talks wine)

My brother is 18 now. It's a fairly recent occurrence. So, he's now able to buy me alcohol. Which means I don't have to put on pants, EVAR!

Unfortunately, he hasn't got very good taste in... well, anything. The other day, I asked him to pick me up a bottle of white wine while he was out. Preferably a Moscato or a Riesling. Not only does he return with a Chardonnay, but a shitty one at that. I gave him cash, so it wasn't like he couldn't afford any better. I drank it anyway (who am I to pass up free wine?) but it wasn't the first time this has happened. There is NO alcohol that he has good taste in. Beer? NOPE!

Seriously, he mostly drinks cruisers. He doesn't know what glass goes with what drink. I knew that before I was 15. How has he escaped this education? I understand that not everyone shares my tastes, but I take it upon myself to teach him about the amazing world of alcohol.

Sadly, he finally finished moving out today. I arranged for him to move in with Jae (who has a house he can't afford on his own) and it's taken him 3 weeks to move out. I am sad to see him go, though.

Anyway, I just needed to rant about my brother. Bye for now.

I have RETURNED

Hi guys. I'm back. I only disappeared because since the 'Shakespeare Incident' I've been living in my parents basement and have only just gotten some form of internet back.

Lots of stuff has happened in my life since we last spoke. As I said, I'm living in parents basement again, and I have no intention of moving back out anytime soon. I'm just too lazy to go looking for an apartment that I can afford. It's a pretty good setup, I have my dogs with me again (as well as my cat), and I can paint the walls! So now I'm turning my home into a nerd cave. I really quite excited.

This is also the first blog post in which I'm doing my own html, mostly because blogger is being a bitch and not letting me just WRITE the damn blog post. Luckily I have this kind of backup. Hooray.

I should probably be asleep, since it's 4am and I have stuff to get done later. But it's really windy, and loud noises on the roof are keeping me awake. Congratulations, gentle reader, you're being used as an alternative to sleeping. Thanks.

I have a few new competitions planned, for eventually. One for when I reach 100 posts, and one for when I reach 10 followers. You can make one of those things happen, reader. And I don't mean coming to my house and gently stabbing me until I write more.

I currently have an evil scheme brewing, and while I'm too lazy to go into the details here, if you're a blogger interested in finding out exactly how crazy I am, then email me or contact me on facebook and I'll tell you what's going on.

Shakespeare has a new girlfriend, which has kind of got me in a stabby, lonely mood. But I'm fine. For some reason I thought it might take him a bit longer. Stupid assumption. Shakespeare's badass.

I'm going to stop writing now. Bye. Thanks for reading my babbling.

...

Well, Shakespeare announced today that we should date other people before we commit to each other so that we're sure we've made the right choice. Which is something that's been on my mind, since we both have fairly short romantic histories (He's my 3rd real relationship, and the second one was a douche), but not something I would ever consider leaving over. So I left, and am currently staying at a friends house because 1am is not a respectable time to show up at my parents house in tears.

That's all for now.

Update: I called him today (because I have no problems with seeming desperate) and we chatted. He said that he wanted to date/sleep with other women, but he didn't want to do that while we were together, so he was going to "get that out of his system then come crawling back" (actual quote from our conversation), which is both sweet and unbelievably idiotic. So I feel better. Still upset with him, but I see his point, and it's been one I've been thinking about too.

LOOK!

I have a review site (along with a few other bloggers I've asked to help me). We review places in Australia that tourist wouldn't normally visit. I'm sure it's been done before, but I felt like the internet needed more opinions.

Just Click Here to see what the hell I'm talking about.

Interesting Ideas

Okay. So, I have this idea for a competition. But it would involve multiple blogs. I'm not going to hand out any extra information here, but if you're a blogger and your interested in this idea (as vague as it is) email me (my email can be located in the Contact Me page) and I'll tell you a bit more. It's just easier to not talk about it publicly until something is actually happening.

I'm a terrible blogger

It's stupid. I've been going through a phase for a while now in which I am terrible at making conversation (even seemingly one sided conversation like this) and so I have been a terribly bad blogger. But I'm going to try and interact with the world at large more. That includes the internet (YAY!) So I'm using this blogs facebook page for casual conversation, as well as pretending I know how to twitter and tumblr. So you should make sure you're keeping on top of those. Especially if you like pointless babbling (and you must if you read this blog).

It's a shitty new years resolution, but it's the only one I've got.

Getting back on the bike

I stopped any and all kinds of physical activity pretty much when I broke my arm. So now it's officially time to get back to work. I started today, by setting up the wind trainer (for my bike) in the loungeroom and going out for a ride. Super easy, but fun all the same.

Question is, should I set up another blog for my athletic endevours? I want to share my various stories, but I don't want to bore people here who don't care. I'll probably set up a poll. Look out for that. I want you all voting :)

On a completely different note, I'm considering starting a "Australia by Australians" blog, which will review places that tourists wouldn't normally visit (hence the "By Australians" part). But I need some help. If you're an Aussie and want to write with me, shoot me an email!

Yay!

I got accepted to display ads with project wonderful. I've already been advertising with a few low-key sites, and this is gonna be a big step for the blog. Just those two little ads there for now. Maybe I'll add something else soon. REMAIN WATCHFUL!

I totally recommend Project Wonderful to everyone hoping to advertise. They're super duper easy to use, and, I mean, if THIS blog can get ad space, any blog can.
